The interest must be serious!

Knicks team president Phil Jackson has been far more conspicuous during the lead-up to this year’s draft than even in 2015, when New York had a higher pick. First he attended the Combine workouts in person for the first time in his Knicks presidency, and on Thursday he attended a private workout for potential pick Malik Monk. Per Ian Begley:

Knicks president Phil Jackson and GM Steve Mills were among dozens of NBA executives on hand to watch Kentucky guard Malik Monk play today at his agency's pro workout day in New York, per sources. Members of the Knicks organization have been enamored with Monk but it would surprise Draft observers if Monk is available when the Knicks pick at 8. The Knicks are likely considering several options with the No. 8 pick.

The workout was in New York, so there wasn’t but travel involved, but this is still a step in the right direction! Monk has been linked to the Knicks on several occasions. His draft stock doesn’t seem to have much zip—pizzazz! zork!—at the moment, so he could very well fall to the Knicks at No. 8. It’s nice that they saw him in person.
