It may be the dog days of August, but it’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas: egg nog, Santa Claus, mistletoe, a plump roast goose, and of course some New York Knicks basketball.
The 2017-18 schedule hasn’t been released yet, but the Philly sports radio station WIP-FM has already reported that the Knicks will play the Philadelphia 76ers on Christmas Day.
Been told that the Sixers will play the Knicks on Christmas Day at Madison Square Garden.— Spike Eskin (@SpikeEskin) August 9, 2017
The Knicks, of course, have played on Christmas in six of the past seven years, despite being pretty bad for a long-ass time. This will prompt another round of ARRRRGGGH WHY DO THEY ALWAYS PUT THE SUCKY DUMB-DUMB KNICKS ON CHRISTMAS hand-wringing from the rest of the country which, honestly, is the best part of this whole thing. Suck it, rest of the country!
As for the matchup, the Sixers and Knicks usually play close games no matter who is on the court. Take it away, Maurice Ndour!
It would be nice to see New York beat Philly in a game during which we aren’t actively rooting against them. So let it be on Christmas, then! Go Knicks!
