Watch Kristaps Porzingis drop 24 points in his Latvian national team debut

Go Latvia!

August 11 was a big day for Kristaps Porzingis, as the young big man finally got to take the court for the Latvian national senior team in a friendly against Poland. As one can imagine, there are no unicorns on Team Poland—nobody to stop our dude from running roughshod over the fellow Eastern European country in a tidy 77-65 Latvia win.

To the highlights!

Porzingis (we can’t call him simply “Kristaps” these days, as there is another Kristaps on the Latvian national team: Kristaps Janičenoks) dropped a team-high 24 points on 9-20 shooting. He was a little rough from the charity stripe (4-8) and beyond the arc (2-7), so there are a few kinks to be ironed out. Porzingis also led the team with 12 rebounds, which is always delightful to see. Between this and his performance in last week’s NBA Africa Game, it would appear the newly-ripped Unicorn is a little bit friskier on the glass.

I couldn’t find Team Poland’s box score, so I don’t know if former Knick Maciej Lampe played in this game. That would be pretty funny.
