Carmelo Anthony reaches out to European Knicks, continues to practice with American Knicks

Togetherness?

Extremely SOURCED dude David Pick dropped a bit of important information this past weekend regarding is-he-or-isn’t-he Knick Carmelo Anthony. Apparently Melo too is a fan of the EuroBasket tournament, as well as the Knicks who play in it. And he has been texting supporting to his European mates.

Hey, that’s good to hear! The relationship between Melo and Kristaps Porzingis hasn’t seemed as strong as it did last summer, when they were adorably tweeting out photos of one another. Kristaps has spent the entire summer in Europe, so it’s not like the two have had many chances to meet up.

This news does, however, call to mind an interesting fact about Melo that I think we all tend to overlook: Whatever his feelings about the organization right now, he has spent a hell of a lot of time this summer working out with various Knicks teammates through his relationship with personal trainer (and former Knicks coach) Chris Brickley.

We all remember his sessions with Tim Hardaway and rookie point guard Frank Ntilikina:

Timmy, Lance Thomas and Chasson Randle have all been regulars at these practice sessions, while the likes of Damyean Dotson, Jamel Artis and Luke Kornet have all put in time. Joakim Noah even dropped by for a visit on Monday.

I personally miss the days of Melo’s annual Puerto Rico trips, where he’d take the youngsters out to the island for some practice and male bonding. Those were good times. But I supposed we can take some solace in the fact that, even if Melo reports to Knicks training camp still hellbent on leaving New York, he’ll still have decent working relationships with his (for the moment) Knicks teammates.
