What’s better than one Knick winning a game in 2017 EuroBasket? How about three wins involving three different Knicks, all in one day. Saturday’s action was quite a treat.
Kristaps Porzingis and his Latvian comrades bounced back from the Game 1 loss to Serbia by crushing an overwhelmed Belgium squad by a score of 92-64. The Unicorn galloped all over the Belgians with 27 points (0-3 from three, but 11-12 from the free-throw line) and six rebounds.
Here’s the Porzingis rebound which fired up the whole damn continent, including Kristaps himself.
The put back dunk and the walk off...

Willy Hernangomez doesn’t quite have the green light which Kristaps enjoys, coming off the bench for a Spain team which still features the Gasol Bros., yet he still dropped 9 points and 10 rebounds in a 93-56 laugher over the Czech Republic. The announcers mentioned that Willy has a wager with the Gasols as to who will record Spain’s first double-double in the tournament. Willy came close, but he’ll have another shot on Monday.
In the Match Day 3 finale, Mindaugas Kuzminskas turned in a sterling all-around performance in Lithuania’s 88-73 win over Israel: 16 points (7-11 shooting), 5 rebounds, 4 assists.
There will be no rest for Yung Cheezy and his Lithuanian mates—they face off against Italy on Sunday. Andrea Bargnani isn’t on Italy’s roster, thank God.
