Knicks EuroBasket Roundup- 09/09/17: Mindaugas Kuzminskas scores 20 in Lithuania loss

Kuz’s tournament is over.

We have our first Knicks-related elimination at the 2017 EuroBasket tournament. Mindaugas Kuzminskas’s Lithuania team fell to Greece, 77-64, in the round of 16. This result was a shocker—Greece is without their best player in Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Lithuania had the second-best net rating in the tournament during the group stage (big ups to Willy Hernangomez’s No. 1 Spain squad).

Kuz did his best to keep the Lithuanians in the game, scoring a team-high 20 points on 7-12 shooting (5-6 from inside, 2-6 from outside the arc). Kuz was a beast on the inside—as he has been throughout the tournament—dunking on the Greeks left and right. I’m not sure he could do this against NBA athletes, but still...Cheese all upside your head!

To the highlights!

Kuz gets several early highlights, but the end of this video (and the game) belonged to Westchester Knicks legend Thanasis Antetokounmpo. Thanasty only scored five points in this game—due to foul trouble, naturally—but he did hit a back-breaking three and out-run the entire Lithuanian squad for a dunk on the break.

I still love you, Thanasis.

It is now up to Kristaps (5:30 AM vs. Montenegro) and Willy (11:45 AM vs. Turkey) to regain New York’s honor on Sunday morning.
