It’s been a rough few days in Knickdom. The team has lost five in a row—the last two in rather embarrassing fashion—and the outlook doesn’t look to bright for the immediate future. And Knicks fans are left to wonder how things might be different if only their beloved unicorn, Kristaps Porzingis, were healthy.
Well Kristaps knows exactly how you feel, Knicks fans. Nobody wants the young Latvian 7-footer out on the court more than Kristaps himself, and he reminded the world of that Saturday night with a melancholy Instagram post.
“I just wanna hoop.” Amen, young brother. Amen.
As if the moment couldn’t get any sadder, Kristaps received a message from former teammate (and currently embattled Houston Rocket) Carmelo Anthony.

The Rockets, who sported the league’s best regular-season record a year ago, sit near the Knicks near the bottom of the standings with a 1-4 record, and Melo has taken the lion’s share of the blame. It breaks my heart to think of Melo wading through an deluge of “u suck” Instagram messages, trying to resist unloading one of his patented “glazed donut face ass” rebuttals, only to see his former teammate also suffering.
I hope you find peace, Melo and Kristaps.
