NBA: Draft Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

With the NBA Draft just over two weeks away, the best reporter on the Knicks beat, Ian Begley, shed some light on who the front office may be targeting. Piggybacking on a pair of Nick Friedell tweets, Begonias elaborated on Duke big fella, Wendell Carter Jr. and Villanova’s do-it-all wing, Mikal Bridges.

This could be some kind of slick subterfuge. If I had to guess- Scott Perry is totally into the counterespionage side of drafting. Offering up the fish monger’s delightfully cherry red herrings. Steve Mills, for my other guess, is just a folksy guy who doesn’t mask his lies but sorta futzes around telling clear falsehoods. The bizarre organizational pressure to be a toughie just doesn’t suit him. Most other executives just smile and warmly embrace him.

Earlier this morning Beggin Strips popped up with this little jammy:

Now. If one were to surmise the way I might do my particular brand of surmising, I’d say the Knicks wish Trae Young were dropping when in fact he will not. He will be taken eighth. They may settle for Carter Jr. at nine, who will be available no matter what they say they think. And Bridges might be there, he might not. They won’t however tip their hand on him or anyone that may or may not be named “Bridges”. Slick play, ninth-pickers.

All I know is I hope they don’t pick sure to bust Michael Porter Jr. He really looks like a terrible draft choice. What do you think?
