The 2017-18 NBA season is officially over. Congratulations to the Golden State Warriors, who beat the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday night by...some score. I didn’t watch, personally. Did anyone else find these playoffs a tad boring? Only one series truly mattered, and that was the Western Conference Finals.
Now that the annual postseason snooze fest is over, we can get to what really matters! The NBA Draft will be held on Thursday, June 21. Check out P&T’s “Know the Prospect 2018” page, in case you’ve been missing out.
Quickly following the draft we will see a flurry of activity as the free agency period begins on July 1. The Knicks have three notable potential free agents in Michael Beasley, Kyle O’Quinn and Enes Kanter, though Kanter is extremely likely to opt in on the final year of his deal. Ain’t no other team gonna pay him the $18.6 million he’s due to earn in 2018-19. And we can only hope LeBron James signs as soon as possible, so we can stop seeing lame jokes like this.
Enes, my dude...it’s getting old.
And while the basketball normies hold their collective breath waiting for LeBron to sign, the rest of us will be gearing up for the most wonderful time of the year: Summer League! The Knicks are back in Vegas this year (good riddance, Phil), and the Las Vegas Summer League starts on July 6. We’ll see Frank Ntilikina, perhaps even manning the point for the first time since Jeff Hornacek gave all his point guard minutes to Emmanuel Mudiay and Trey Burke. We’ll also get to see Damyean Dotson, plus at least TWO new draft picks. It should be the most stacked Knicks LVSL team since the heyday of Nate Robinson.
I can’t wait!
