The Knicks officially inked Mitchell Robinson to a multi-year contract ahead of tonight’s Summer League dixieland reverie with Utah. The team has swelled to have nearly 20 players in their stable. Some decisions will have to be made in advance of the 2018-19 season. Robinson should be plenty safe and figures into the long term thinking for now.

Welcome aboard. Mitchell Springboard was a veritable lost and found on the the box against the Summer Hawks. He clearly has a knack for finishing big plays but he did not look ready for such an aggressive pace of play. The kid has been skipping steps to get here though, and I think we’re all just excited to get to root him on as he grows along with these other young studs.
More details as they come. For now Ian Begley notes that there are team options at the end of the deal. So he’ll have to show and prove along the way.
The Knicks and second-round pick Mitchell Robinson are finalizing a multi-year agreement that’s expected to include team options, per ESPN sources. More: https://t.co/yZrfrn7HdS

A good carrot to dangle, I hope he leaps up and grabs it!
UPDATE!
Source says Mitchell Robinson deal is three years plus a fourth-year team option. Averages roughly 1.6M per.

That’s pretty much a first rounder’s deal but loaded in favor of the team. No matter what he does with the Knicks he’s on a team-friendly deal for a nice long time. Best of luck to him here in New York!
