So one thing I’ll say about this preseason — if the cardiac stress I’ve been feeling is any indication of what we’re in for during the regular season, we’re in for a hell of a ride.
The Knicks came out kind of flat against the Pelicans overall, and kept scratching and clawing their way back basically all game. They got it VERY close late, getting the score within one point with one possession to go, before ultimately not being able to get the game winner and losing, 117-116.
But there was plenty to feel good about! First off, RJ Barrett is an absolute dynamo. The rookie had 19 point on 9-12 shooting and put on an absolute clinic in the first half.

Mitchell Robinson block on one end leads to an RJ Barrett transition 3. Things you absolutely love to see. pic.twitter.com/9X0zgnlhVx

Julius Randle didn’t shoot the best percentage, but dude had a pretty robust 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists on the night.

Bobby Portis did pretty well too! He actually passed a little and he scored efficiently on his way to 12 points.
Portis is still strictly looking to score tonight, but it's looking pretty so ♂️ pic.twitter.com/xNDd8vrWui

Kevin Knox played pretty well in 18 minutes, and this was one of my favorite sequences of the night:

And Mitchell Robinson drew the start again and played more like the Mitch we want to see going forward, with 10 points, seven rebounds and four blocks.

Mitch then IMMEDIATELY follows this with a block on the other end leading to an Ellington 3. Knicks only down 4 pic.twitter.com/G4hswe25au
