Game Preview: Knicks at Timberwolves 3/10/2019

Sixteen left. Tank tour of champions continues.

Well hello there. Didn’t expect to see you back so soon! The Knicks (13-53) air zoomed to Minnesota last night to face the Timberwolves (30-35) today. Losers of five consecutive, New York is looking to put the brakes on this skid.

Both teams played yesterday but the Timberwolves didn’t have to travel. The Knicks also played a matinee game which may have allowed them the extra bit of time to recover. Minnesota may be extremely short handed due to injuries.

This game may just come down to who gives a damn. Sadly, at this point of the season and considering what everyone has been through, it might be tough for all parties. I wouldn’t be shocked if this is one of the lowest scoring games of the year.

Projected Starters

Looks like no Karl-Anthony Towns after a freaky injury last night against the Wizards. It’s a shame, he’s their best player, and I wanted Mitchell Robinson to block all of his shots.

We’ll see what goes on with Towns. Other injury related business for the Wolves, there’s Andrew Wiggins contending with a deep thigh bruise and also the case of this stooge:

Towns had like 40 and 20 before leaving with what could be a career altering injury and Derrick Rose Stans (the worst brand of person on basketball twitter) come through stomping out an “M-V-P” chant when Rose helps push the Wolves over the top in overtime against the goofy footed Wizards. It was the second night of a back-to-back for Washington but yea, sure. Heck of a job, all of you.

Key Matchup

Well, no Towns. Possibly no Rose. Wiggins shuts his own self down. Robert Covington remains sidelined and with Minnesota’s season looking rather pointless now, you have to start wondering if he’s just done. Josh Okogie and Keita Bates-Diop are helpful wings on both sides of the ball but they need their teammates to set things in action. Why?

Could this be the Dario Saric game? He has certainly given the Knicks the business in the past.

Who intends to stop him? Lance Thomas? Yea. Deny this fucking guy the ball.

Prediction

Derrick Rose doesn’t play. Dario wrecks ass on the Knicks. Minnesota is galvanized behind their injured comrades. Both fanbases remain depressed. The Knicks pick fifth in the draft.

Knicks by -8.
