The Knicks selected R.J. Barrett with the 3rd pick

Welcome to New York, Mr. Barrett.

After weeks of anticipation the Knicks finally got their man, R.J. Barrett, with the third pick of the 2019 NBA Draft.

Barrett rocked a sweet pink suit on stage as the pro-Knicks crowd at Barclays Center exploded with cheers. It was a welcome departure from the past few years when the crowd booed the pick.

The Canadian native known affectionately as Maple Mamba, is a stat sheet stuffer. A 6’7” wing with a 6’10” wingspan, he’ll score points, rebound rebounds, and assist on assists. The defensive half of the game is still a work in progress, but we’ll get there, baby.

Rowan Junior made it known in the immediate aftermath of the draft lottery that the Knicks were his top choice. He only worked out for the Knicks and talked much about his familial ties to the city including his grandfather’s fandom.

The Knicks pick again at 55 and they’ll probably trade Frank Ntilikina sometime between then and now, so get ready!
