Woj hath spoken: The Final Four in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes has been revealed, and the Knicks are among them.
The Knicks join the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors as teams who will get a meeting with Durant once free agency begins on June 30, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
These meetings will be a little less casual than the ones that took place in the summer of 2016, when Durant eventually chose the Warriors.
“Durant invited teams for more formal presentations as a free agent in 2016, but he and Kleiman’s level of knowledge on the teams, owners, executives and roster offerings suggest a less formal face-to-face process may be necessary this time. Durant and Kleiman have been in New York since the All-NBA star’s surgery to repair a torn Achilles, and plan to communicate with the teams from there, sources said.”
Friday morning SNY’s Ian Begley refuted reports that the Nets were in the lead for Durant’s services.
From earlier: there have been some strong suggestions on TV/radio lately that the Brooklyn Nets are the front runners for free agent Kevin Durant. That notion is not accurate, sources familiar with the matter say. More here: https://t.co/5g2BbJBoJ8

Apparently, it’s anybody’s ballgame.
Durant famously tore his Achilles during the NBA Finals, and he almost certainly won’t play next season. Still, he would likely be the best player to suit up for the Knicks in...oh, let’s say in a while. What say you, Knicks fans?
