Notes from the second day of team workouts: Knicks talk defense and Al Harrington (???)

Hadn’t thought of Al in a while.

The New York Knicks engaged in team workouts for the second time on Monday. There are photos to prove it!

If you feel like giving yourself a good scare, you can note that RJ Barrett, Elfrid Payton and Julius Randle are all wearing the blue jerseys for this scrimmage. Let’s not do that again, Coach Thibs.

Here’s a nice little video compilation.

Kevin Knox is featured in the video. Head coach Tom Thibodeau went out of his way to praise the embattled third-year man during his post-practice comments.

Hey now, that’s good to hear! Frank has a clearer path to minutes as a forward than many of the team’s guards. Here’s hoping he can take advantage.

Two Knicks players spoke after practice: Mitchell Robinson and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. We begin with Mitch, of course. He was asked about Thibs’ coaching style in practice.

That shouldn’t come as a surprise, given Thibs’ reputation. It should be noted, however, that Thibs’ Minnesota teams were actually excellent on offense (and terrible on D.)

Mitch also mentioned that he gained 10 pounds during the offseason, from 240 to 250. I thought he looked a little beefier.

When asked about the Knicks, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist brought up Al Harrington, whom he said was one of his favorite players growing up. Apparently they went to the same high school. Does that mean MKG will attempt the Al Harrington special — losing a game by earning a technical foul for hanging on the rim — during preseason?

In more somber news, guard Austin Rivers was limited in practice due to a sore groin. Get well soon, Austin!
