Prepare to feel old, my contemporaries.
The New York Knicks continued to bolster their front office, adding Alex Kline to their scouting department Friday. Alex Kline, by the way, is 26 years old.
And this is not the young man’s first NBA gig. Knicks president Leon Rose hired him away from the New Orleans Pelicans, where he has worked for the past four seasons. Kline started a college basketball recruiting website, The Recruit Scoop, and was profiled in the New York Times at just 17 years old. He was later named in Forbes’ 30 under 30 sports list. That’s quite a resume.
Kline will be working under assistant GM Walt Perrin, who was hired away from the Utah Jazz thanks to his extensive experience scouting college players. So we’ve got the wily old vet Perrin and the up-and-coming youngblood Kline. Sounds like a dynamic duo to me.
The Knicks have three picks in the 2020 NBA Draft — whenever it will be held. Let’s get to work, scouts!
