2019/2020 Knicks player grades: Julius Randle

Julius Randle was a new acquired free agent from the Knicks last season when he signed a three year $63 million dollar deal with a team option in 2022. Presumably, Julius was the Knicks plan B option when they missed out on Zion Williamson, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant through this years draft and free agency. Julius is the replacement for Kristaps Porzingis when he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks back in 2019. Julius Randle was a top free agent in 2019 after he had a breakout season with the pelicans averaging 21.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.1 assist, and he shot 52.4% from the field.

Knicks fans were not too excited when they acquired him in free agency after everyone thought the Knicks would spend big in free agency for Kyrie and Kevin Durant. Julius has decreased following his 2019 season but he has led the team in scoring, and rebounding, He is considered the best player on the team looking at his numbers but his team has massively struggled considering the players they have with R.J. Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, Bobby Portis, and the underachieving Dennis Smith Jr. Julius probably wont be with the team long when the Knicks were shopping in free agency and the Knicks were reportedly shopping their star players at the trade deadline. Julius averaged this season 19.5 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.1 assist, and he shot 46% from the field. You can't fully blame Randle with coaching changes and mediocre and inconsistent play from mostly everyone on the team.

Julius Randle player grade: B-
