As I've been saying since February 2018, a year before he was dealt, Kristaps Porzingis does not appear to be a "keeper" from a basketball standpoint. The Mavs were foolish enough to commit a gigantic amount of money--all of it guaranteed over the next 5 years--to a player whose minutes they limited during the season but who still got injured and will now miss the remainder of the playoffs, at least. Anyone still regretting that he was dealt (separate and apart from how good or bad the compensation) needs to come to terms with the fact that he represented a poor investment for which Dallas are now paying. His salary represents a large chunk of their cap and will cripple them in efforts to put a team around their young superstar, Luka Doncic. Had we ceded to his (and his loathsome brother's) salary expectations we'd be crying like nobody's business today, with an injury-prone "face of the franchise" the commitment to whom would have proved deadly for the next half decade.
