The Knicks played like butt Friday night against the Thunder, who are good, but certainly not great. New York’s Sunday opponent, the Denver Nuggets, are unquestionably great. Still, the Knicks came out like butt once again, so naturally they got wiped off the floor pretty much from start to finish.
I refuse to show any highlights from this abomination, but if I did, they would belong to the starting frontcourt of Mitchell Robinson (11 points, 5 rebounds) and Julius Randle (29 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists). The rest of the team...well, they sucked. Let’s break it down:
- Mitch and Randle: 16-21, 40 points
- rest of Knicks: 16-53: 49 points
It might not be fair to single out one piece of crap in the Knicks’ septic tank, but tonight I’d like to shine a light on the failings of backup center Nerlens Noel, who put up 1 point and 4 rebounds in a ghastly 11 minutes of action. The Knicks were outscored by 21 points in those 11 minutes, and Tom Thibodeau kept bring Randle and Mitch back into the game out of disgust with Noel’s play until nearly the very end of the night. The Knicks play in Charlotte tomorrow, so watch out for fatigue from Randle, who played 38 minutes in a blowout. Noel couldn’t even get burn at the end of the game, as Thibs went for the frontcourt of Ignas Brazdeikis and Kevin Knox. Taj Gibson can’t get here fast enough.
It’s all coming up crap right now. Benny has the recap.
