Julius Randle was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for April

He was great, and so were the Knicks.

The Knicks torched the NBA throughout the month of April, putting up an 11-4 record. They were most often led by the superlative play of Julius Randle, who put up some preposterous numbers in the month: 27.1 PPG (44.0 FG%, 42.7 3P%, 85.8 FT%), 9.0 RPG, 6.3 APG. It is fitting, then, that Randle should be named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for April.

Warriors PG Steph Curry was named for the Western Conference. The duo were also named Players of the Week during the month. I feel like these two guys should perhaps team up pretty soon!

Randle received a bit more publicity earlier in the day, when Slam revealed that he and his partner-in-crime RJ Barrett would grace the cover of the next issue.

Unfortunately, Tom Thibodeau missed out on Coach of the Month honors, losing to Wizards coach Scott Brooks. Some Knicks fans will be perturbed, but I doubt Thibs cares about such accolades, especially when he has a team currently fighting for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Randle’s young son, Kyden, put it best.
