On Friday the New York Knicks held virtual introductions for two of their new draft picks, Quentin Grimes and Miles “Deuce” McBride. Poor Rokas Jokubaitis and Jericho Sims will have to wait their turns, I suppose (Jokubaitis will play overseas next season, and Sims just doesn’t have the WOW factor with the fans and media).
We begin with Grimes, the Knicks’ lone first-round pick. He met online with the notorious New York press (yes, Marc Berman was there).
Grimes is definitely excited to be a Knick.
“I feel it’s a match made in heaven. [The fans] can be on you, but it’s for the best. I definitely want to be part of it in New York. I know they got something special going. They made the playoffs and in years to come they‘re going to be closer to The Finals.”
I definitely want to be part of it in New York — the kid has been a New York athlete for one day and he’s already quoting Frank Sinatra lyrics. I love it!
McBride was next.
One thing is certain: The No. 36 overall pick already has a chip on his shoulder. He even noted it at his draft party.

Methinks Knicks fans are going to enjoy Deuce’s revenge tour.
Grimes and McBride also answered some questions from Knick fans.

Clearly the kid knows what fans want to hear—”trust the work,” “nothing given”—and all that. It makes me feel old as hell when he talks about seeing guys like LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony play when he was a kid, though.

Q&A with the newest Knick was a huge success. Thank you to all who submitted questions! pic.twitter.com/VGBoP25EX2
Favorite Knick: Bernard King. Even the questioner was impressed. And I was ready to run through a wall when he said he was most looking forward to playing against that ratfink Trae Young. They’re both good kids, but so far Deuce has the leg up on the race for fave Knick rookie.
