They guaranteed themselves a medal!

France is headed to the gold medal game at the Tokyo Olympics, which is a big deal for Knicks fans. Recently-signed shooting guard Evan Fournier dropped 23 points for Team France as they held off Slovenia, 90-89, thanks to a ridiculously clutch block from Nic Batum.

This was the first time Slovenian superstar Luka Doncic had ever lost since joining the national team. Clearly, he plays better when he doesn’t have a certain 7’3” anchor weighing him down.

It wasn’t all peaches and cream for Fournier, however. He fouled out near the end of the game and the French up by four. Slovenia hit a three-pointer to climb to within a point, and were on the verge of completing the comeback before Batum’s miraculous block.

In terms of—God, this pains me to say—former Knicks, Frank Ntilikina played six minutes in the first half, missing all four of his shots. It’s not fair, making my son play in such high-pressure games while he still has his professional career hanging in the balance!

France will take on the Evil Empire, the USA, on Saturday—winner gets gold, loser gets silver. Remember to cheer on your French heroes! Allez Les Bleus!
