After suffering their second loss of the OG Era after crumbling late against the Orlando Magic on MLK Day, the New York Knicks were scheduled to hold a practice on Tuesday but they ultimately canceled it.
That means we had no official update on Jalen Brunson’s availability for Wednesday’s matchup against the Houston Rockets coming out of head coach Tom Thibodeau’s mouth.
That said, the coach let us know on Monday that Brunson was “day-to-day” and doing “a little better.” Said Thibs: “Pain tolerance. He just goes through his routine to work out to get ready to play. I trust him. When he’s ready to go he’ll let us know.”
With that out of the way and with the surprising addition of Josh Hart (questionable, knee) to the last injury report released by the Knicks on Tuesday, here is what we’ve heard about the franchise in the past few hours, straight from the sources.
On trying to find the best rotation and improve the bench production following the OG Anunoby trade...
“If you look at the players you have, you try to figure out what their strengths are. You want to play to their strengths, cover up their weaknesses. And you do that as a team.
“It’s also important for all teammates to understand what each other’s strengths are. So you want to play smart, you want to play together. You’ve got to play hard.”
James Dolan (Knicks owner) — via E. Danya Perry (Dolan’s attorney)
On the accusations against James Dolan...
“There is absolutely no merit to any of the allegations against Mr. Dolan. Kellye Croft (the woman who filed the lawsuit) and James Dolan had a friendship. Mr. Dolan always believed Ms. Croft to be a good person and is surprised she would agree to these claims.”
“The references to Harvey Weinstein are simply meant to inflame and appear to be plagiarized from prior cases against Mr. (Harvey) Weinstein.”
”These claims reflect an act of retaliation by an attorney who has brought multiple cases against Mr. Dolan and has not won, and cannot win, a judgment against him.”
“Bottom line, this is not a he said/she said matter and there is compelling evidence to back up our position. We look forward to proving that in court.”
Adam Silver (NBA Commissioner)
On the federal lawsuit filed on Tuesday, Jan. 16, accusing New York Knicks owner James Dolan of committing sexual assault...
“I saw the article and don’t know anything else about it other than I read the article.”
“We’ll stand by and wait to find out more information.”
Charles Barkley (TV analyst and former NBA player)
On Brunson’s talents and his impact in New York ahead of last season’s All-Star break...
“Jalen Brunson is arguably one of the best free agent pickups in NBA history. What he’s done this year (midway through the 2022/23 season) is historical. We didn’t know Jalen Brunson was this good of a player—nobody thought that.”
On Brunson (potentially) getting snubbed for the second time and not making the 2024 All-Star game...
“Jalen Brunson better make the All-Star team or I’m not going to Indianapolis (with the TNT crew). I’m telling you, if Jalen Brunson is not an All-Star, I am not going.”
